Don’t go spending a couple of quid on a sachet fajita spice mix. With 5 basic store cupboard herb and spices, make your own. You can use this on beef, chicken or tofu to make a quick fajita stir fry that is made in minutes. My kids really like this as they can add all the extras at the table. I serve this with wraps, store bought fresh tomato salsa, avocado and creme fraiche as it is lower calorie than the more traditional sour cream.
Ingredients for fajita spice mix
- 1 tsp Chilli Powder
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Garlic Granules
- 1 tsp Cumin
- 1/2 tsp Oregano
Method
In a small dry bowl, mix all ingredients together. Rub onto diced chicken or meat of choisce and leave for a couple of minutes (or longer) to add fajita spice mix flavour to your stir fry. Stir fry with onion and peppers (I like sliced mushrooms too) and serve with tortilla wraps, salsa, guacamole and sour cream.
